We provide a combination of either one day introductory workshops or two and three day courses. Courses are comprehensive and can therefore count towards ISST certification but can be attended all the same should you not wish to follow the certification route. We try where possible to create all one day workshops to also double as day one of the main course so there is no overlap of material.

SCHEMA THERAPY FOR COUPLES & RELATIONSHIPS

We provide a combination of one day workshops as well as the 3-day certification workshops which may also be attended as stand-alone workshops should you not wish to follow the certification route.

SCHEMA THERAPY FOR INDIVIDUALS

COUPLES THERAPY

Does Your Relationship Get Stuck in a Destructive Default Cycle?

Schema Therapy for Couples can help you understand the unhealthy patterns that have been destructive to your relationships. Mode maps are utilised to give  understanding to the clashes that have taken place in your relationship/s.  Slowly, perseveringly and collaboratively you will be able to set out on a different course, with a new understanding of yourself and your relationship.

You will be introduced to a model which helps you avoid going to past problems.  Once you have learnt to identify and stop the cycle, re-balance and shift to a problem-solving oriented interaction pattern you will be able to deal with difficult content in your relationship.  Through understanding how your most relevant schemas and beliefs fuel the mode cycle via conjoint imagery exercises can strengthen the emotional bond you have with your partner.

If one or both partners is not able to leave the role of the unhealthy mode cycle, individual therapy can be offered alongside the couples therapy, enabling deeper work to take place.

The goal of therapy is to learn to solve your relationship problems in the best possible way,  using the connection dialogue skills.

Mandy is a Certified Advanced Schema Couples Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer.
She has an MA (CBT) from the University of South Wales and is an Accredited Member of The British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists.

Fee for Couples Therapy: £110

(On average 12 sessions attended fortnightly or weekly are required to complete the work)

FEEDBACK

“I also wanted to say how good today was and specifically how good you are as a trainer. You know the material inside out and so are amazing there but also the way you explain the material, respond to people in the group. You are a really good trainer.”

“It was really a fantastic three days. The model is really relatable and makes sense and I can see how these techniques could be so useful to clients. I can’t wait to do the second workshop and learn even more about how to work with these complex clients. All material is delivered with passion and conviction, and all questions the group asked were answered comprehensively”

“Arnie really helped me understand this process in such a simple way which I need! Thoroughly enjoyed it despite reservations to start”

“Excellent course. Very Informative. Really good engaging presentation. I have learnt so much and feel very enthused about starting to use schema therapy in my practice. Thank you! I found the experiential nature of the course invaluable for my learning and understanding!”

“This session has made me want to learn more”

“Very good overview of schemas, with examples. Imagery demonstration with examples of how this works and how to work with the person after this”

“Mandy has a very strong understanding of Schema therapy. Her workshops are interactive and informative. Mandy is enthusiastic when presenting and teaching the model. I found her workshop very interesting and will definitely attend any further workshops that Mandy runs.”

“I found the workshop – Schemas, Modes & Relationships very informative, practical where the information/theory is transferable into the counselling room and an excellent way to improve how clients communicate within a relationship.  The Schema Trainer had a wealth of knowledge and examples of work and was able to relay this effectively, motivational and calmly.  Excellent, will attend further workshops in the future.”

THERAPISTS

Sonia Wiltshire

I often say to my clients ‘it’s not you…it’s your schemas’. There is often profound relief that there can be an explanation for the way they are feeling or acting. And schema therapy goes beyond this explanation. With careful, experiential, work it can help repair some of the damage done in formative years. I have undertaken full schema therapy training, have attended workshops, international schema conferences, and regular trauma group meetings. Lately, I have completed an online course with Wendy Behary, an expert in narcissism – as I often come across clients struggling with a narcissist in their lives.

Dr Misbah Khan

‘I’m passionate about schema therapy as it takes a trauma informed approach and enables individuals to get above the ‘symptoms’ of a problem. I have been using schema therapy for many years and feel it lends itself to flexibility so that other therapies can also be incorporated at appropriate times.’

Neill Hughes

Having worked as a trauma-informed therapist and often finding clients stuck in unhelpful patterns, I have found Schema therapy as an approach that finally makes sense of what I have often observed. Helping clients to become more adaptive in dealing with distress and understanding the root of their feelings and being able to emotionally heal, I have found Schema therapy can make a real difference to clients’ lives. I have completed the full ISST Schema therapy training, as well as other trauma-based approaches such as; DBT skills and Mentalisation Based Therapy for families (MBT-F) and I have extensive experience working with childhood trauma.
